Good morning and happy Monday everybody! I am still so shocked that it is 2022. These past few years have been unlike anything I have ever experienced, and I am so thankful that me, Kyle, and our family and friends have stayed healthy through it all. I am really looking forward to seeing what happens this year.
We had beautiful weather on Monday so after cleaning up around the house and writing last week’s recap, Chance and I went for a 4 mile walk at the park. It felt so good to be outside, and it’s crazy to think that I was wearing short sleeves this time last week.
I started The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid this afternoon on my Kindle. I knew I was going to love it before I even finished the first chapter.
We made homemade pizzas for dinner, and I ended the night with some bedtime tea and reading.
Today was my first day back at work, and it took my a little bit to get back into the swing of things! I had a sandwich for lunch, and then Kyle, Chance, and I headed out for a .6 mile walk. I have had the biggest urge lately to get back to running longer distances, and I am so excited for us to keep upping our mileage!
We ended the night on the couch. Kyle was studying, and I finished my book! The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is definitely one of my favorite books now, and I HIGHLY recommend it!! Then I used my Tula Claydate face stick- my skin has been acting up a little lately- probably from all the sweets over the Christmas weekend. No regrets though! *Not feeling guilty or obsessing over the foods I eat is the most freeing feeling, especially around the holidays. I am so thankful for how far I have come in that area of my mental health, and I pray that you all can experience that too. If you are struggling in that area, know you are not alone, and it can get better! Reach out if you’d like- I’d love to talk with you about it.
My brother and sister in law had a baby on Thursday!!! His name is Robert, and he is PERFECT. They also have a two year old daughter named Joy so I went to their house to stay with her on Wednesday night and until they came home on Friday night. We had so much fun! We played for hours, went on walks, and took lots of funny pictures. My sister in law keeps their house so comfy and cozy. I love being there! My parents came in on Thursday afternoon to stay with us as well so it was just a big, fun sleepover that lasted days. I loved every minute of it, and I am so thankful for the time we all had together. My parents and I went back to our house on Friday night after my brother, sister in law, and new baby came home from the hospital.
Also, I was exhausted after caring for Joy for just two days (WITH the help of my parents), hence all the coffee. I have an even bigger appreciation for all those parents out there who do it all day everyday! You guys are amazing.
We made bacon and eggs for breakfast and spent the morning on the couch watching Seinfeld. We had storms come through all day on Saturday so it was the perfect lazy morning. Then we went back to my brother and sister in law’s house on Saturday afternoon to meet the baby. Childbirth is just the most amazing thing ever, and it makes me tear up just thinking about it.
Kyle was home from clinicals by the time we got home on Saturday night. We decided to stay up to watch the Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts because my mom and I just could not wait any longer to watch it. I cried pretty much the entire time- it was SO GOOD. All the feels came flooding back, and I was just overcome with nostalgia. It reminded me of all the nights my dad spent reading me the books. Harry Potter was a huge part of my childhood, and I will never get sick of watching those movies or reading the books. If you are a HP lover, definitely watch the anniversary special. It was so well done.
Kyle had clinicals again on Sunday so he was up and gone before my parents and I woke up. They headed home today, but we went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast before they left. I got the egg sandwich with a side of bacon, and it was so good!!
After they left, I cleaned up the guest room and decided to take down our Christmas decorations. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to take them down yet, but I just had to urge to get it done and put up some spring decorations. It’s starting to get cold here in Tennessee, and I thought we would be happy to have some spring views in the home. I am so happy now that I did it! I also knew that I would be happy that I did it after I got back in the swing of both my jobs.
I ordered my groceries on Sunday morning, and they had an opening at 4 to pick them up! I was so excited because I thought I would have to wait until Monday (which is totally fine), but I was happy to be able to get them all prepped and put away today. I made some hard boiled eggs and baked the bacon in the oven so I could have it for breakfast during the week.
I decided to try the trend of putting eucalyptus in the shower, and we are loving it so far! The bathroom smells amazing, and it is supposed to help with headaches and allergies. Kyle has terrible allergies so I am excited to see if he sees any improvement with it! I just bought one bunch of eucalyptus at Kroger for $7, and used twine to tie it to the shower head. Super easy!
I wrote out my schedule and to do lists for the week. I am loving my new Day Designer planner. There is nothing like a fresh, clean planner for the new year.
I wanted to start printing out a calendar for each month this year so I found this template on Pinterest, and I think it is so cute! I am going to use colored highlighters to mark off each year so it’s bright and colorful. It’s the little things!
Kyle brought home Mexican food for dinner, and we watched Seinfeld while eating in bed. His clinical schedule has been CRAZY for the last few months, and he is so exhausted. I am so proud of him for working so hard and never complaining. After he fell asleep, I drank my bedtime tea and watched Harry Potter before reading and falling asleep.
