Getting in steps at work

Work days, Christmas vibes, and celebrations!

Good morning everybody! We spent a ton of time this weekend with family celebrating Kyle, and it was so much fun. I’ll talk more about that later, but let’s start this recap from the beginning.

Monday

I woke up feeling soooooo tired because I didn’t sleep well for some reason. I decided to spend the time I would have spent working out doing some yoga and deep stretches. It’s amazing how much better I felt afterwards. Listening to our bodies is SO important.

Sandwich, blueberries, and vitamins

I had half a sandwich with buffalo chicken and lettuce on sourdough bread, blueberries, and my vitamins for breakfast. I really slacked on taking photos today, but I had a turkey stick, peppers, and Siete chips for lunch and chicken nuggets for dinner at home!

I got my steps in at work and listened to podcasts. Tori is back to putting out a new episode every Monday, and I love it! She is so inspiring and real and always makes me laugh. I really appreciate her honesty. This episode had tons of tangible tips to organize my day in the best way possible

Chance and I were super lazy after our evening walk. I restarted Gilmore Girls last week, and Kyle said he always knows it’s fall when I am watching GG. Truer words have never been spoken. It just fills my heart with all the fall and Christmas feels, and I am here for it.

Tuesday

My original plan was to keep running in the morning, but even with Chance, I feel so uneasy running when it is SO dark outside. I wear lights and reflective gear, but I still don’t feel great about it. Maybe it’s all the true crime I listen to? Anyways, I decided to do a work out at home instead, and I made sure to drink my greens before heading to work.

I’m still slowly working my way through this bible study. I do a little bit every morning, and I am learning something new every time. It’s such a nice and relaxing way to end my morning routine before getting into work mode.

I continued to get my steps in once I got to work and then had the same breakfast I did yesterday.

What am I going to do when sweater weather ends?? Continue to wear sweaters because it’s cold in our office.

My lunch was chips, peppers, and a turkey stick just like yesterday. The green tea citrus AHAs are my new obsession. They have the right amount of caffeine in them to give me a boost in the afternoon and not keep me up at night. After work, my car needed some work done so I stopped by the car shop to drop it off.

I’m sorry for the quality of this photo- I was using the stove for a while and it made the kitchen a little smokey! I made these burgers and potato wedges that came in our Hello Fresh box this week, and they were so delicious. We watched a few episodes of How I Met Your Mother before getting ready for bed.

Wednesday

Pre work out from Bowmar

Wowowowow this pre work out is a 10/10 for me. I love anything sour, and this did not disappoint! I dry scoop it, and it’s like a pixie stick which was my favorite when I was younger (and probably still to be honest). This sample says it is a single serving, but I split it into four servings because I will be bouncing off the walls and have the jitters if I took the whole thing at once. I will be buying the tub of this flavor for sure! I went to the gym and completed Week 3 Day 2 of Couch to 5K and did some ab work outs.

After I got cleaned up, I drank my coffee and worked on my devotional. I love this table we got from Amazon last week. It’s perfect for the space in the kitchen, and I sit at it every morning. I was able to put it together without any problems, and it didn’t take much time at all.

Pumpkin spiced cold brew

My boss’s birthday is over the weekend, and she took off Thursday and Friday so we threw her a little party today. I stopped by Starbucks on my way in to work, and bought her a pumpkin spiced cold brew because it’s her favorite. I think they’re super gross, but they photograph really well!

Same foods- another day! These reusable baggies and this lunchbox are perfect for work, and I use them every day. For dinner, I made pasta with chicken and tomatoes from Hello Fresh! I loved that they had me bake the tomatoes with olive oil before adding them to the pasta. They burst with flavor and added so much to the pasta.

Fall porch decorations with dog

I got the sudden urge to clean Kyle’s car, and Chance decided to join me outside. We keep a long leash outside connected to the front porch so he can be out there since it isn’t fenced in. He loves to watch the neighborhood and make sure everybody is behaving.

Thursday

I completed Week 3 Day 3 of Couch to 5K and then did some arm work outs. I know I haven’t been back into my morning routine for a long time, but I have been in such a good place lately since I’m starting my days with movement. It helps me SO MUCH.

I had most of the same foods again today, but instead of a sandwich, I had leftover pasta instead.

Kyle’s parents got in this evening, and we spent our time catching up and having dinner. I made two different meals from Hello Fresh, and they went together perfectly! We had chicken tacos and a chicken and rice dish that were both delicious. One of the meals on it’s own would not have been enough, but having them together was just the right amount.

Friday

Kyle's white coat ceremony

WHITE COAT CEREMONY DAY!!! I am so insanely proud of Kyle, and I am so glad we got to celebrate him today. For those of you who don’t know, doctorate in medicine programs have a ceremony for when the students get their white coats which means they have passed their classes and simulations that they have to in order for them to start being a student in the hospital setting. Kyle starts at Vanderbilt on Monday, and I am so excited for him. It is so crazy that he is already getting into patient care, but I know he will be amazing.

Party decorations and Kyle

My mom and I planned a little party at my brother’s house for Kyle for Friday afternoon. Kyle was only allowed to bring a few people with him to the ceremony due to COVID so my family celebrated with us at the party. I sent decorations to my mom to bring with her so she could decorate before we got there, and she did amazing! Kyle’s favorite food is tacos so we had a taco bar, and my mom made the bulk of the food. She’s the best. Kyle said he felt very loved, and I hope he can tell how proud we all are! I am super thankful for him and for families who love to celebrate together.

Special cookies for Kyle's White Coat Ceremony

My mom also ordered these cookies from a girl I grew up with back in Indiana and brought them for the party. How amazing are these!? I don’t know how she did it, but they are just as delicious as they are adorable. Let me know if you are in Indiana and want her info. She’s amazing!

I’m so insanely proud, and I can’t say it enough. He’s the best.

Saturday

Breakfast and coffee

Kyle’s parents came to the house before heading home for brunch. Kyle is such a great host, and we love having family here.

I spent the rest of the morning finishing some chores and cleaning up after the weekend. Kyle had this conference thing that he had to be a part of at different times throughout the day, but it was all online so he studied in between then picked up food from our favorite little pizza place.

Sunday

Iced coffee, cookie, and turkey stick

Breakfast of champs, am I right??

Kyle’s mom and I have been planning our Thanksgiving/Christmas plans, and I had the urge to go to Target to start shopping! Kyle’s parents will be in Arizona with Kyle’s grandparents for actual Christmas so we are having ours when we celebrate Thanksgiving. My family is all gathering at my brother’s house for Thanksgiving dinner so we’re all going to join them for that and then have a Christmas celebration on Friday. We’re going to go pick out our tree, open stockings and presents, and have a nice meal. I’m super excited, and I think it will be really fun. Holiday plans can become difficult when you’re trying to please multiple families, but Kyle and I discussed it and made sure to be on the same page even before we were married. It has made the world of difference for us because we know what we’re going to do and always discuss it just the two of us before finalizing our plans. We want to make sure we treat our families fair while also making time to celebrate just the two of us. It looks different every year, but we always make sure those two things are included! On a lighter note, the Christmas decorations are starting to emerge in Target, and my heart is so happy!

Sweet puppy face

This guy had a great time with family this weekend and is now in need of lots of cuddling and rest.

I finally watched American Murder: The Family Next Door, and I wanted to punch Chris Watts in the face every time he came on the screen. He is truly the worst. I think it was really well done, and I hope it helps people remember the victims and be more aware about how real domestic violence is. That being said, if you or anyone else you know are in an abusive relationship, REACH OUT. You are NOT alone, and there is help out there. Everyone deserves to be loved and safe in their relationship.
