Flower haul from Lowe's

Morning routines, lots of gardening, and throwing a surprise baby shower!

Good morning and happy Monday! I’m so glad you’re here. This week was busy but in a great way! I love writing these recaps especially when they are filled with fun stuff. I need to do better at taking pictures when I’m out doing things so it’s not all the same photos every week. I’ll do better!

Monday

Grocery day!

I made a smoothie and did my morning routine before heading to Aldi and Kroger.

Start Today Journal and She Reads Truth bible are linked here 🙂

Smoothie:

  • 1 Cup Frozen Strawberries
  • 1 Cup Frozen Spinach
  • 1 Cup Unsweetened Oatmilk
  • 1 TBSP Chai Seeds

Blend and enjoy! I liked it because it was light and refreshing but also kept me full during my grocery shopping!

While I was grocery shopping, I picked up some flowers to plant in some pots I bought a few years ago. They go perfect on our front porch!

I love the little pop of color!

Pineapple, chicken breast, and cottage cheese

After I put all the food away, cut up the fruit and veggies, and planted the flowers, I had some pineapple, cottage cheese, and chicken breast for lunch.

Then Chance and I headed out for a 2 mile walk in the bright sunshine. It was beautiful outside and just what I needed.

Cauliflower pizza, zucchini, and salad

Dinner was cauliflower pizza, baked zucchini, and salad! We watched Criminal Minds before Kyle headed back to studying and I got ready for bed. We’re so exciting, I know!

Tuesday

Iced coffee, devotional, bible, and journals

I dove back into my Jesus Calling devotional this morning, and I had forgotten how good it is! I’ve been making decaf iced coffee to help me cope with the pain of not drinking regular coffee. 😀 Good thing Coffee Over Cardio has decaf in addition to all their other amazing flavors. Remember, code 10Miriamleigh gets you 10% off all orders!

I did all my cleaning today, and it felt so good to have a clean home!! I was splitting up the chores throughout the week, but I felt like doing it all today. It’s the best feeling!

Walking on the stair stepper

I ate an apple and then headed to the gym for a work out. I did 20 minutes on the stairstepper followed by 30 minutes of leg work outs.

I made a smoothie (same recipe as yesterday) once I got home and then snacked on pork rinds and turkey breast slices after I showered.

Burgers, bacon, and green beans

Later on in the evening, Kyle grilled burgers, and I cooked green beans and bacon for dinner. Kyle’s burgers are always so delicious.

Wednesday

I’ve been doing my morning routine out on our back deck, and I love the quietness of it. The birds are always chirping, and I never hear any people outside.

I ate some pineapple and granola before tackling what I had planned for the day.

Remember how I cleaned out all the weeds and cleaned up the rocks in the garden at the front of our house a few weeks ago? Well I changed my mind and decided to plant flowers again. I removed all of the rocks and added more soil to the garden before heading to Lowe’s.

Flower haul from Lowe's

There were SO MANY OPTIONS, and I got so overwhelmed. Once I picked the pink ones, I found all the others pretty quickly though. I just had to make the first decision.

Flowers on front porch

I love the way they turned out! They are supposed to grow quite a bit more, but they might not truly bloom until next year. Perennials are a little more expensive, but I think they’re worth it since they come back every year!

I drank my greens and made ground beef with zucchini for lunch after I was done gardening. I was SO TIRED! I didn’t know gardening could be so exhausting. It’s no joke!

TV watching in bed with tablet

I started the process of uploaing all of our wedding photos to my google drive just in case something happened to our original files. It took all night once I started, but I love every single photo so it was worth it. I am also in the middle of picking out the ones I want for a few gallery walls we’re doing in the house. It is SO hard to choose.

Mexican for dinner!! This is my all time favorite meal, and I legit think I could eat it every night. Chance thought if he laid down super cute, he would get some.

Puppy on Marco Polo

After dinner, Kyle went back to studying and I watched a Marco Polo from Jaycey. How cute is here pup, Luna??

Milk of Magnesia and Seltzer water

Super random photo, I know. Just hear me out. Our bodies need Magnesium. Symptoms of low magnesium can include headaches or migraines, muscle cramps, restless legs, dizziness, etc. Many doctors advice making Magnesium Water instead of buying magnesium pills because your body can absorb it so much more than pills. Obviously, I am NOT a doctor but I decided to start making it. I have already seen a difference. It doesn’t taste bad and is super cheap. I got my recipe from wheatbellyblog.com.

Thursday

Iced coffee, journal, bible, and devotional

New day, same morning routine!

I got my hair chopped today, and holy moly it feels so much better!! It’s like I’m a new person. I let it get way too long during quarantine, and it was driving me bonkers.

I also seem to eat the same foods every day haha I had my pineapple and granola after I got home from my hair cut, and then I made the same smoothie from earlier in the week to have on my drive to see my sister in law, Cassie, and niece, Joy!

Walking dog

We went on a long walk on the trails near their home. This is Flowby- isn’t he cute? Then we walked around Target and hung out for a while at their house. It’s so nice being so close to them now, and it makes me so happy to be able to see them so often!

Friday

BABY SHOWER DAY!

Before heading to my other brother and sister in law’s house for the afternoon and evening, Kyle and I went to the BMV to get Tennessee licenses. Did you know you can make appointments at the BMV now!? It saved us HOURS.

Baby shower decorations and gifts

Then we were off to set up for the baby shower!!!! I know it seems silly that I set it up in the guest room, but Daniel and Cassie were in on the surprise and helped a ton with the planning, but they couldn’t get to the house until 6. Anne (the sister in law who is pregnant) gets home from work around 5 so we set it up in a room that she wouldn’t normally go into so she wouldn’t see it until Daniel and Cassie got there. That was super confusing so I hope it made sense! The party was a HUGE success. Anne had no idea and was so happy. It made my year that we pulled this off! A ton of family and friends sent gifts and sent me little videos that I made into one big video for her to watch. The cakes are from Nothing Bundt Cakes which are her favorite (same cakes we had at our wedding). It was so fun, and I loved every second of it. Anne is one of the best people I know, and she deserves the best of everything. We spent the evening catching up and watching all the kiddos play.

We got home around 10:30 and headed straight to bed!

The Weekend

Donuts

I slept in late on Saturday, and when I woke up, we headed out for donuts! What a great start to the weekend.

Watching TV and eating donuts in bed with dog

We laid in bed most of the morning. Please excuse the bare mattress, I was washing the sheets!

Making the bed with a dog

We finally have a put together bed in the guest room! I washed the sheets on it as well since it had been laying on the floor. Chance thinks this is his room and wouldn’t get off the bed so I made it with him in it. He jumped down right after this photo.

My Fab Fit Fun box came today! So many awesome products came in this box, and I am so excited to try them all. I heated up some left over chicken tenders and drank my greens to even out all the sugar. 😀

Steak

Kyle grilled some delicious steaks for dinner. I don’t know what I am going to do when grill season ends!

Greens, bible, devotional and journals

I woke up at my normal time on Sunday and dove back into my morning routine.

We had leftover donuts and coffee in the morning, and I had a bowl of cantaloupe later. I also drank my greens!

I had a little self care night while Kyle studied. I did my self tanner and painted my toenails. I also started using my split end serum from Virtue again, and it smelled so good. My hair is so soft now! I need to remember to keep using it.

These are the two products from my Fab Fit Fun box that I am most excited about! My lashes are next to nothing, and I have always had super dark circles under my eyes. I will test these out and let you all know if they’re worth the hype and $$$!
