Breakfast smoothie and books

Relaxing week, lots of take out, and home decor!

Good morning everybody! I hope you had a great weekend. I am sitting at my new desk and drinking some iced coffee (what a surprise). This past week was a pretty low key week for us. I didn’t feel like cooking so we ate out multiple times, and I had more than my share of naps! But I think it’s just what I needed, and I’m ready to be super productive this next week. Sometimes it’s good to relax and recharge. I also got quite a bit of rearranging and decorating done, and I am excited to share!

Monday

Breakfast smoothie and books

I made my smoothie and completed my Start Today Journal and devotional from She Reads Truth. Rachel Hollis has some super cute new designs for her Start Today journals- check them out!

Mirror selfie

I wore one of my DIY cropped shirts today, and I loved it! It fits me so much better, and it was so easy. I now have a ton of cute shirts that I’ll actually wear now instead of them just hanging in my closet.

Grocery day! I got a pretty big haul today- which I did a whole post about! I’ve really enjoyed my grocery shopping lately since starting to use that time to catch up with podcasts.

Peppers and hummus

After we unloaded all of the groceries and before I began prepping them, I snacked on some peppers and hummus. One of my favorite snacks!

Iced coffee and meal prepping

I made an iced coffee and got to food prepping! I also wrote about my prep process in my grocery haul.

After I finished prepping food, I got to baking! I am normally not a baker, but I really enjoyed making these Oatmeal Cream Pies. I followed this recipe from Simply Taralynn.

Baking ingredients

These were the ingredients I used- mostly gluten free!

Iced Matcha

I made my first Iced Matcha, and it hit the spot in the afternoon! I mixed matcha powder with oatmilk and poured it over ice. It’s a good alternative to coffee in the afternoons.

Grilled chicken, veggies, and potatoes

For dinner, we grilled chicken and I baked peppers, asparagus, and potatoes. Super delicious! We sat at the table for the first time in a while and really enjoyed it. We’re going to get back into the habit of eating at the table more often.

Tuesday

Run selfie

I was up at 6 to go on an early morning run with Kyle. I miss our runs together, and with his school schedule, this is the best time for us to go together. We did a 2 mile run/walk.

Devotions in the morning

After our run, I made my smoothie and ate some granola. Have you had this granola?! It’s amazing! I’m saving it for dessert from now on.

Cleaning the bathrooms

Bathroom cleaning time!! I scrubbed the floors, sinks, counters, toilets, showers, and mirrors. I also washed our towels and sheets.

Here are the only two lovely pictures of my day. I started feeling crummy after cleaning so I ate some cantaloupe and laid down for a while. When I woke up, Kyle had made his amazing grilled cheese and brats and it was delicious. I went back to bed after eating!

Wednesday

Breakfast smoothie

Same smoothie, same morning routine!

Today was another slow day for me. I made some coffee and plopped on the couch for a while. I wrote my grocery haul today and watched a lot of Supernatural.

Healthy lunch

Lunch was a salad with Tessamae’s Green Goddess dressing, chicken breast, hippeas, cantaloupe, peppers, and hummus.

Cloudy day

Chance and I tried multiple times to go on a walk today, but it rained on us every time! We ended up getting in about 3 miles while only getting rained on a tiny bit.

Chicken and steak fajitas

We picked up dinner from our local mexican restaurant, and their fajitas are the BEST!

Thursday

Picture of running shoes

I woke up and headed out for a 3.5 mile walk before the rain started! We didn’t get rained on this time. 🙂

While I was in the shower, Kyle went to Starbucks and got me an iced coffee with almondmilk. YES! Our Starbucks here is still using straws, but the one back in Indiana got rid of them a while ago.

Chance watching TV
Chance sleeping while I work

The top photo cracks me up because it looks like Chance is watching Supernatural. Then he had enough and fell asleep.

I also have some exciting news! I now have discount codes for Coffee Over Cardio and Hydrojug. I love both of these companies so much. I would never tell you guys to try something that I didn’t personally use/love. Use my code 10Miriamleigh for 10% off your order from Coffee Over Cardio and Miriamleigh10 for 10% off your order from Hydrojug. If you use my code, thank you so much for your support! My codes are also on my main page of my blog and will work on all future orders. <3

Chick Fil A for lunch

I was CRAVING Chick-Fil-A so I got it for Kyle and I for lunch. Why is there food so good?

I made another coffee in the afternoon and drank it while applying to more jobs. I watched Tori Desimone’s new vlog and started the new season of Riverdale. Both are so good!!

Sprite and saltines

Here was my dinner before going to bed for the night. After I finished lunch, I started to feel SUPER nauseous. This has happened two other times after I have eaten Chick-Fil-A, and I am just now making the connection. I couldn’t stand up without almost getting sick. I feel like Chick-Fil-A is one of the cleanest and nicest fast food restaurants so I didn’t get it. Then I was talking with Jaycey on Marco Polo, and she wondered if it was the peanut oil they use. I think that might be it! I don’t ever cook with peanut oil so it would make sense. It also might be because I haven’t been eating a lot of fried food lately either so maybe that could also be part of it. Who knows!! All I know is that I am NOT giving up Chick-Fil-A 😀 I think next time, I’ll get the grilled nuggets and see if that helps. Okay enough of my Chick-Fil-A problems..

Friday

Chance and I did a 2 mile walk while the radar was clear. This last week, storms have been popping up out of nowhere and have been super unpredictable. We jumped on any chance we had to walk.

Iced coffee and granola

I had my smoothie and then had an iced coffee with a little bowl of Birthday Cake granola. SO GOOD! But it’s super sweet so a little goes a long way.

Kyle and I went on a few errands to Walgreens and Home Depot this morning and picked up McDonald’s to share 😀

We went to Home Depot to get the supplies that I needed to make my desk! It was super easy, and I LOVE the way it turned out.

Grilled steaks and veggies

Kyle grilled steaks and I baked veggies for dinner. I have been loving baked zucchini lately and broccoli is always Kyle’s favorite.

After dinner, Chance and I headed out for a 2 mile run/walk. It felt good to end the day with a run in the evening air. I know that sounds funny, but it’s true!

Someone took quarantine being “over” very seriously and chucked their mask out the window haha

Bowl of cantaloupe

Dessert was a big bowl of cantaloupe before taking a shower.

Popcorn and Moscow Mules

We made moscow mules and popcorn for a late night scary movie! I linked our popcorn maker here and our mule cups here. We love them both! We watched Polaroid on Netflix, and it was actually pretty scary. A little cheesy, but still good.

Saturday

Kyle walking Chance

We started the day with a 3 mile walk. We walked to a little park close to our house so Chance could run around and play frisbee. They had multiple tennis courts that I’m super excited to use once they unlock the gates! We played tennis a few times last summer, and we loved it.

I sat at my desk and had my smoothie while watching more Riverdale. Then I headed back upstairs to eat some granola and cantaloupe and continue watching Riverdale. I was so tired! I was also determined to finish the new season, which I did 😀 So good!

Our toilet is fixed!! Let’s hope it stays that way. Two guys came in the afternoon to work on our leaking ceiling and replaced another part on the toilet in our master bath. We haven’t had a leak in a couple of days so we might be in the clear.

Cup of coffee on desk

I made some coffee and sat down to check some things off my to do list. It feels so good to have a desk to work at.

Also… I did a thing. I made a tik tok! I’ve only posted once, but I lowkey love it. My FAVORITE person is @afterhourswithamanda. She screams kindness and positivity which is right up my alley. I love how she is using this new platform to spread joy, and she inspired me to do the same. If you want to follow me, my username is @miriamleighgreen. Hopefully I’ll get some more videos up soon! I’d love to connect 🙂

Scary movie and dinner

We had another date night with bdubs and blizzards! We watched The Lodge, AND IT WAS TERRIFYING!!!

Sunday

When I woke up, my skin was a mess. Probably from the sugar and foods I’ve been eating (no regrets). I washed my face and put on this mask to help. Which it did! This is such a great clay mask. It’s cheap, smells so good, and really helps with breakouts/clogged pores. I’ll link it here!

Coffee and Sweet Magnolias

I made some coffee and finally started Sweet Magnolias while I applied to more jobs. This show is so cute!! It’s lighthearted, happy, and so pure.

I took a break from writing this post to hang a few pictures and finally put away all of our shoes in the hallway closet. I snacked on cantaloupe and sunflower seeds!

I peaked around the corner and Chance had found a spot in my office. I love it.

I am so happy with our new home, and I got a lot of decorating done this week. It’s not even close to being done, but it’s much more cozy now. I still have quite a few things I want to buy once I find them/have a job again, but we’re happy right now. Here are a few updates…

Questions for you!

  1. Have you watched Sweet Magnolias yet?!
  2. Do you have any curtain suggestions?! This house has a ton of big windows, and I need advice!
  3. Do you like baking or cooking more?

I am probably a little weird but I only like to drink my iced coffee with the plastic straws from places like Starbucks/Caribou. I think that metal straws change the taste of the coffee. I don’t have a recommendation for the curtain situation but I might recommend blackout curtains if you are having any issues sleeping. I know for me it needs to be pitch black in order for me to get a restful nights sleep. Did you guys do anything fun for memorial day weekend? What is one thing you’re doing again now that most of the quarantine’s/shut down’s are running out / being relaxed?? I know that I have my haircut, eyebrow wax, and dentist appt’s ALL scheduled for the first week of June!! 🙂

I agree about the coffee and the black out curtains! When Kyle worked nights, we had black out curtains in his bedroom and it was a game changer.
We didn’t do a whole lot for Memorial day besides relax and go on a few walks. Kyle had a big test today (Tuesday) so he spent most of the weekend/Monday studying! Fun, I know. I hope you had a good holiday!
I actually went to the gym for the first time today, and it was amazing!! You are going to feel so accomplished after all of your appointments! I am super jealous about the haircut and eyebrow wax.
