Good morning, everybody! It feels funny writing that because it’s actually Sunday evening right now, but it’ll be morning when this is published so there’s that. I’m currently on the couch, watching Supernatural with Chance, and getting this recap done! Kyle is upstairs studying for the next 4 hours so I thought it would be a perfect time to BLOG! Let’s do this.
Monday

I started the day with my normal morning routine. I probably won’t share a picture of this every morning since it’s a bit repetitive- but just know this is how I start every morning. A cup of Coffee Over Cardio coffee (use code 10Miriamleigh for 10% off all orders!), a devotional from She Reads Truth with my She Reads Truth bible, a journal for my prayers, and my Start Today journal are all the things I use every morning!
Grocery day!! I headed to Aldi to get the bulk of our groceries and then went to Kroger to get the more specialized items that Aldi didn’t have. I listened to the new Crime Junkie podcast episode and an episode from Asking for a Friend with Lauren Conrad podcast while I shopped. Seriously, this has made me actually look forward to grocery shopping and helps me feel like I am being even more productive. I know it sounds silly, but it’s true! I wear my AfterShokz so I am still aware of the people around me.
I headed out on a little run/walk once I put all the groceries away. I completed the first day on the couch to 5K app, and it felt so good! I’ve been walking so much lately, but running is still a whole different ball game. Especially with these hills! But I still love working in some runs every once in a while. At this point, I don’t know when I’ll get back into long distance running, but never say never!
Once I got home, I made some lunch and wrote last week’s recap post. My lunch was a mixed green salad with Tessamae’s Green Goddess dressing, peppers and hummus, pickles with Everything But The Bagel seasoning, cauliflower crisps, and Never Any! deli chicken breast.
After finishing lunch and publishing my post, I reapplied my sunscreen and headed outside to work on this mess. I’m in the process of cleaning up this flower bed so I can start over with it. There are a million little rocks in it that I want to reuse, but I have to detangle them from all of the weeds and leaves first. It looks like it was once taken care of because there is a black tarp under the rocks in some places but the weeds have grown through it and taken over. It’s a long project, but I am excited to see the transformation down the road! I have already filled 3 boxes full of rocks, and I’m barely halfway done. 😀
Tonight was taco night! While Kyle had tacos, I made a taco salad with lettuce, taco meat, and fresh salsa with homemade guacamole on the side! We tried the Siete Grain Free Tortilla Chips, and I actually really liked them.
We ended the night with tea and headed to bed! I mixed both Kava and Ginger tea. Kava helps me destress and relax and Ginger helps with digestion and headaches.
Tuesday

I know this is a super random picture, but I woke up on Tuesday wide awake and with a desire to get my chores done early. So I set to it and deep cleaned all the bathrooms! I always feel so accomplished after cleaning the bathrooms.

Then I changed clothes and went back to my normal routine.

Coffee and food prep time. I had some Cinnamon Bun Coffee from Coffee Over Cardio with unsweetened oatmilk, and it was delicious! I got started prepping all of the fruits and veggies to make cooking easier this week.

I chopped up brussel sprouts, broccoli, asparagus, potatoes, zucchini, carrots, peppers, and cantaloupe. That should save me a lot of time when I go to cook this week! Plus, the cantaloupe is AMAZING!

Then I headed out for a 4 mile walk with Chance. I listened to an episode of Supernatural with Ashley Flowers. Ashley is the creator and host of Crime Junkies so I knew I would love this podcast.

I made a smoothie with oatmilk, frozen blueberries, chia seeds, and frozen spinach. I waited too long to eat today so I was so hungry!
A little bit later, I had some cantaloupe and leftover chips and salsa from last night.
I spent the afternoon applying to jobs, picking up around the house, and planning out more blog content.
For dinner, I baked potatoes and brussel sprouts and Kyle grilled burgers for dinner. Kyle’s burgers are so good- I don’t put anything else on them!
Wednesday
This morning was a little hectic! I know I ate my normal smoothie and lunch, but I guess I didn’t take a picture!

Someone had to come rip up our toilet in our master bathroom because there is a leak in our kitchen ceiling (gross, I know). Yes, the day after I deep cleaned all the bathrooms. haha
I swept and mopped all the floors downstairs and vacuumed all the rooms upstairs after they were finished with the bathroom. I also cleaned Chance’s bowls- woo hoo! I usually try to do this at least once a week, if not twice.

Iced coffee with oatmilk for a late morning pick me up!

Followed by a fall down the stairs. I don’t know what hurt the worst- my pride, my butt, or my hydrojug. I ordered a new one- don’t worry!

We grilled chicken kabobs with peppers and asparagus with zucchini and roasted potatoes on the side. We grilled extra chicken for Kyle to have on his salads this week.

The views in this neighborhood are so beautiful! I made more Kava tea, drank it on the deck, and headed to bed.
Thursday

After my morning devotional, Chance and I headed out for our walk. We did 3 miles this morning in this beautiful weather, and I listened to another episode of Supernatural. This one was super creepy.

I drank my smoothie and worked on the rocks for a while after our walk.
After working outside for a while, I came back in for some lunch! I had most of the same things I’ve had all week followed by a glass of greens and reds. I used to drink Optigreens from 1st Phorm every day, BUT they are almost $60/month and we just can’t afford that right now. I picked up the containers above from Meijer because they were so much cheaper, and I thought we could give them a shot. I am not a fan. The flavor is fine, but they don’t blend as well and have a thick, chalky texture to them. Kyle likes them though so that’s good! 🙂
I headed back out on my own for another 3 mile walk. I listened to some podcasts including an audio extra on Israel Keyes- so crazy!

I baked potatoes, brussel sprouts, and zucchini and Kyle grilled steaks for dinner. YUM!

Kyle had to go back to studying so I made a bath and watched Supernatural while I relaxed. We have a big soaker tub in this new house, and I AM LOVING IT!
Friday

It was finally warm enough in the morning for me to do my morning routine on the patio! It was so wonderful, and I can’t wait for more summer mornings.

A few weeks ago, I started making a mini to do list in this little notebook every day. I usually have it made the night before, but I fell asleep before I could do it last night so I made it this morning! I love doing this because it keeps me on track and keeps me productive during quarantine.

Chance and I headed out for a 4 mile walk through the hills in our neighborhood.

Look at how beautiful these flowers are. A ton of my neighbors have amazing gardens, and I hope one day I can join the club!
About halfway through our walk (right before the steepest hill), Chance plopped down in the grass in the shade and wouldn’t budge. He was so exhausted and hot so I called Kyle to come pick him up. Chance needs a lot of exercise, but I know he has had enough when he does something like that. I don’t want to push him too far, especially in the heat. I finished the rest of my 4 mile walk on my own.

I made my smoothie and headed back outside to work on the rocks for a while. I’m making progress, RIGHT!?

Chance was laying here when I walked in from my walk, and he remained there for most of the afternoon 😀
I made Kyle’s favorite protein balls for him this afternoon. I got this recipe from Simply Taralynn, and I linked the recipe here! Super simple, protein packed, and delicious! She has a ton of dairy and gluten free recipes on her blog that I am planning on trying this month.

I made an iced coffee with oatmilk and headed upstairs to work on another project. I have a handful of tshirts that I love but don’t wear very often because of the length. I have a super short torso so normal tshirts bunch up around my stomach/hips if I don’t pull them down over my pants which I think looks weird on me. SO I cropped them all, and I love them so much more now! I didn’t do anything fancy but figure out how short I wanted them and cut them! Super easy.
After I cleaned up the cut fabric and hung up the shirts, I put my self tanner on and did my nails! I bought the Essie gel nail polish, and I love it so far! It’s definitely not perfect, but it’s already lasted so much longer than any regular nail polish I’ve used.

Friday night is usually date night so we got in the car and headed to Sonic. Places are opening back up around us, and I am dying to go somewhere. But Kyle is not on board yet which is totally right and legit so we just picked up food and went back home. 🙂
YUM! We love Sonic.

We watched The Wrong Missy on Netflix while we ate, and it was so good! It was so funny and cute. But don’t watch it around kids.
Saturday

Chance and I headed out for a 3.5 mile walk in the morning. This time he jumped right back up after resting for a second!

Same picture, different day. I feel like I’m finally making a dent in these rocks!

Kyle snapped a really quick photo of the baby bird egg in the nest on our deck. So cute! I can’t wait to see the little birdy grow up 😀
I wasn’t feeling great for the rest of the afternoon/evening so I laid down and didn’t do much else!
Sunday

I was feeling much better when I woke up this morning so I made a bowl of fruit and ate some granola. I found this granola along with a couple of other flavors on the Safe and Fair website, and I am excited to try them all! The cinnamon was delicious.

We drove to a little park to take a quick walk before it rained. It was a super cute park, and I am excited to go again! There is also a little splash pad by our house, and I am excited to take my nieces and nephews.

We took a back way home, and the area was so nice! Full of trees, big houses, and farms. I loved exploring it and need to keep taking the back roads from now on. Not that I really go anywhere..
Once we got home, Kyle headed back to studying.

I finally put our entryway together, and I love it! I am taking my time in decorating this place, but this made it feel more homey already.

For dinner we had spaghetti squash, zucchini, and carrots. Such an easy meal, but it is so satisfying and delicious.

I absolutely love reading your post, I enjoy your sharing about your week; oh the joys of home ownership, 🙂 🙂 no more toilet hangups, I hope. I run now, but when I started I began by just walking, then walk and run; then run and walk now I run. Consistency is the key
Thank you so much, Brenda. That truly means so much.
And amen! Consistency is absolutely key. I have learned that time and time again haha 🙂
