Walking on treadmill with hydrojug

Work outs, meal prep, and migraine update!

Good morning everybody, and Happy Monday! This recap is full of new dinners and early morning work outs. I know that a lot of this is repetitive, but that’s how my life is right now. 🙂

Monday

I was up at 4AM to get to the gym by 5:15 to work out for about an hour before work. I upgraded to the black card at Planet Fitness last week so I now have access to all of the Planet Fitness gyms. On Mondays, we have an early morning meeting so I usually go to the Planet Fitness by work and shower/get ready there. I didn’t know there was a Planet Fitness about 15 minutes from me so I go to that one on days I don’t have to be at work early 🙂 Confusing, I know. But it works for me! It has also helped me continue to get out of my comfort zone which I love. I had my verb bar and coffee on my drive to work!

I ended on the treadmill doing walks/sprints for 2 miles.

HIIT Treadmill Workout

I used this guide for my run this morning! It was a great work out and definitely had my sweating by the end. (I did NOT make this, and I found it on pinterest!)

Once I got to work, I had two protein balls, a protein shake, and applesauce throughout the morning. Lunch was a chicken Caesar wrap and salad. Dinner was cauliflower rice and spicy meatballs from our Cook Once, Eat All Week cookbook. OMG these meatballs were amazing! I will definitely use less chili powder next time because I could not handle the spice. Today is an example of a good fuel day for me. All of these meals made me feel energized and ready to take on the day.

Tuesday

Every two months, we have an even earlier morning meeting and this was that day. I decided to not wake up even earlier than usual and just had a slow morning.

Breakfast smoothie and Start Today journal

I made a smoothie and did my Start Today journal before getting ready for work. I have been slacking on this journal lately and need to do better because I feel so much more powerful and optimistic when I complete it every morning!

Scrub life is the best life! But seriously, I wear PJs to work every day and don’t give my outfit a second glance most mornings haha

Iced coffee and scrubs

I treated myself to an iced coffee with almondmilk to get through the meeting. I love the people I work with, but it’s hard to sit still for an hour at 7AM when I’m used to moving around a lot. My hospital has a lot of exciting things happening, and I wish them nothing but the best after I leave! They truly do great things in our community. If you live in Indiana, check out Community Health Network if you’re on the hunt for a job! 🙂

Lunch was a lot better than it looked haha I had a salad and roast beef on the side. I skipped out on the lasagna because I didn’t think it would make me feel very good. Once I got home, I downed a glass of greens because I missed them this morning and yesterday! I made lettuce cups with ground chicken for dinner, and they were delicious. We gobbled them all up. This recipe was also from our new cookbook!

Wednesday

I usually rest on Wednesdays but since I didn’t work out yesterday, I did a full body work out followed by the stair climber today. Like always, I drank my greens and had my verb bar on the way to the gym.

I made a smoothie once I got home and had it while I got ready.

  • 1 Frozen Banana
  • 1 Cup Almondmilk
  • 1 Cup Cold Brew Coffee
  • 3 Ice Cubes
  • 1 Scoop Chocolate Protein Powder
  • 1 Spoonful Chia Seeds
  • 1/2 Spoonful Coconut Oil

Lunch was chick fil a! I had a cup of fruit and a grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomato, and pickles. I haven’t had their grilled chicken before, and it was delicious!

Snow covered back yard

It became a winter wonderland over night. My car almost did a 360 on the way to work this morning, and it was terrifying. I have never lost control like that, and it had me going 30 MPH for the rest of the drive.

Salmon, carrots, and potatoes

We baked salmon, potatoes, and carrots for dinner. I know we have this meal a lot, but it is so good and loaded with nutrients. We ate this while watching Dexter. Yes, I am obsessed.

Thursday

I woke up with a headache today so I took my medicine and went back to sleep for a little bit instead of working out. I felt mostly better when I woke up, but I was a little worn down from my medicine. I had a smoothie for breakfast, soup, salad, and bread stick from Olive Garden for lunch, and wings for dinner because they were BOGO at Bdubs tonight! Super boring day so that’s really all I have for you. haha Besides us watching more Dexter before going to bed 🙂

Friday

I drank my greens and ate my verb bar on the way to the gym again this morning. I feel so repetitive saying that every day, but that’s my life!

I warmed up, ran a mile, and then did a lot of leg/glute exercises today. My legs were literally shaking by the end. Let me know if you want me to post some of the actual exercises I do! I would love to if people are interested.

I made the same smoothie I wrote the recipe to above after I got home. Since I do so many things every morning, I try to group some things together like getting ready while having my smoothie so I’m not so rushed!

Picture of dark bedroom

I wrote a post about this on my Instagram (@miriamleighgreen) so I’d love it if you checked it out. I was at work for a few hours until I was literally in tears with how bad my head hurt and how nauseated I was. I had to go home early and felt so bad about that. I’ve never had to miss school/work as often as I have these past six months, and I am praying my migraines ease up soon! This picture represents the rest of my afternoon/night in a nutshell.

Saturday

I woke up feeling MUCH better on Saturday so Kyle and I headed to our Orange Theory class at seven. I had an energy drink and verb bar on my way and increased my base pace on the treadmill today! It was a great workout.

Once we got home, we began chugging out our chores. We did laundry, Kyle did school stuff, and I ordered our groceries for the week. I made us protein smoothies for refueling after that work out!

Kyle and I at engagement party

Kyle and I got cleaned up around one to head to his parents’ house for his brother’s engagement party. It was super fun to celebrate them and see them with their closest friends who love them so well. I have got to start taking better picture of us 😀 We got home around nine, but not before we picked up fries from Jaggers for a late night snack! We watched Dexter for about an hour before heading to bed. We were surprisingly exhausted!

Sunday

Glass of greens and load of laundry

I had some trouble sleeping after I woke up around five (internal alarm clock is strong), so I got up and finished the meal prep and folded a ton of laundry.

We decided to join our church online today because we were still exhausted and had no motivation to get dressed. It was another great message from our Won’t You Be My Neighbor series. I love the reminder and encouragement to love EVERYBODY around us and get out of our comfort zone in order to reach more people. If you want to listen or join us online or in person, google Mercy Road Church and we’ll see you there! 🙂

Burrito bowl

Our last recipe from last week was a burrito bowl with cauliflower rice, ground chicken, peppers, onion, avocado, and limes. This meal was SO good, and I love how clean of a meal it was.

First time in shorts this year

It was 55 degrees and sunny so yes I wore shorts to the library!

We packed all our stuff up and spent the afternoon in a study room at the library. It was so nice out! I have an iced coffee with almondmilk and my hydrojug full of water! I am still loving our study/work days at the library, and I love how much I get done while still being with Kyle.

Have an AWESOME week!

Questions for you!

  1. How warm does it have to be for you to bring out your summer gear?!
  2. Do you use a cookbook or make up your own recipes?
  3. Tell me one thing you’re excited for this week!

I am so sorry that your migraines are such an issue right now but I have to say that I completely understand your pain. I don’t have migraines but I have other medical issues which continue to drag me down BUT I am choosing to find the positives. For example on bad days I will find three positives that out weigh the one negative. Like today I was struggling with blurred vision due to medication issues but I was fortunate to be able to rest between work meetings, my neighbor brought me my favorite iced coffee from starbucks, and I raised a little more money for my fundraiser for St. Jude’s! <3

I love this so much! I need to be more proactive about doing that exact thing. Thank you for the reminder/motivation!
