I don’t want the fear of failure to stop me from doing what I really care about.”

Happy Labor Day, everybody! I hope you’re all having a wonderful day celebrating with your loved ones. I wanted to take a little time to still do my recap just to stay on schedule so here it is 🙂
Monday

We woke up bright and early to do an Insanity work out prior to work! We’re still loving getting our work outs in before work. It’s getting easier waking up earlier, and we both feel much more energized throughout the day. It’s also awesome knowing it’s already done, and we don’t have to worry about working out when we’re exhausted after work.

I get my smoothie (with added spinach) in within 30 minutes of working out. I drink this every day and have been for years, and it’s a staple for me!

I just wanted to make a note that I do NOT post every single thing that I eat every day. I don’t have a ton of readers, but I don’t want anybody to think that I only eat three meals a day. I snack a lot during the day. Pretzels, beef jerky, applesauce, oranges, peaches, cashews, hummus, veggies, etc are some of my staples. Patients bring in treats for us constantly, and if I want one, I have one! The bagel above for example 🙂 It’s as simple as that.

Lunch was Mexican! My coworkers get so sick of Mexican because we get it so constantly, but I could literally eat it every day.

Whenever we are gone or Chance is waiting on one of us to get home, he sits here and stares out the front window. It has the perfect view of the driveway and front door. He could sit/lay there for hours. It cracks me up.

Dinner was salmon, potatoes, and broccoli! I put the potatoes and broccoli in our air fryer, and they came out perfectly! Our air fryer is my new obsession. Side note, I have been getting awful stomach aches after eating broccoli so I am going to try to cut it out for a while and see if it helps.
Tuesday

I did this 30 minute yoga routine. I still love Yoga with Adriene! I have been using her videos for years, and there are still tons I haven’t tried yet.

Then I had my breakfast smoothie after I was ready for work.

Lunch was a salad with grilled chicken and tomatoes and waffle chips.

I’ve been coming home and working on our thank you cards almost every day. We are so blessed by so many generous people in our lives which in turn means a lot of thank you cards! haha but I’ll definitely take it and am not complaining 😉 It’s been fun reliving our day little by little 🙂

Dinner was grilled tomato chicken sausage, potatoes, carrots, and fresh tomatoes! I put the potatoes and carrots in the air fryer and again, it did not disappoint. We’ve been having a lot of fresh tomatoes lately. I could eat them like apples.

Two super important things about this picture. The most important is that I have gotten out of the habit of doing my devotions every day, and I hate that. So Kyle and I have been incorporating it back into our nightly routine, and it has been so much better! The lesser but still important part is the tea. For the last couple of months, I have been taking benadryl every night before bed. It started out to help my migraines, and then I couldn’t sleep without it. I’ve finally been able to switch to yogi bedtime tea, and it helps me sleep so good through the night!
Wednesday

Sweaty, lovey picture after a 3 mile morning run. The temperature was in the 60s but the humidity is still so high in Indiana!

Followed by my morning smoothie 🙂

Lunch was salad, a little bit of pasta, half a breadstick, and of course a chocolate chip cookie homemade by a patient!

Dinner was BLTs, salad, and air fryer french fries! I sliced potatoes, sprinkled them with olive oil and salt, and put them in the air fryer for about 25 minutes at 380 degrees. SO GOOD! I put just a tiny bit of oil on them to make them crunchy.
Thursday

Kyle and I worked with weights for about 30 minutes on Thursday morning. I use my booty band to work my glutes, hips, and thighs as well. I used to have a lot of hip problems, but after working on strengthening my hips muscles, I’ve had no issues now!

Then time for my breakfast smoothie! Chance has started this new thing where he won’t eat unless Kyle or I are eating. Such a goofball.

Lunch was BBQ chicken, corn, macaroni and cheese (too spicy for me to eat- bummer), and salad!

Dinner was homemade pepperoni pizzas and salad!
Friday
Kyle and I did the same weight work out this morning again- I just forgot to take a picture! I’m really liking incorporating different work outs into my running routines. It’s been making my running better and working muscles that running doesn’t.

Just like clockwork, breakfast smoothie before work!

I had to stop and take a picture because the view on the way to work was so beautiful!

Lunch was a salad, half a turkey sandwich, and all the pickles.

Dinner on Friday was AMAZING! Kyle grilled delicious steaks while I baked carrots and broccoli, air fryed fries, and cut tomatoes.

Then we roasted marshmallows from the left over heat on the grill and made smores! What a good night. We then headed to bed early because we had a big day trip to make on Saturday. My sweet, kind great aunt passed so we were traveling to Lexington to attend her funeral.
Saturday

We were up at 5 to be on the road by 6! It was about a 3 hour drive. We stopped and got chicken minis for breakfast on the way. My aunt’s funeral was so beautiful and joyful about the life she lived. She was so generous and loving, and the amount of people who came really showed that. Prayers for my aunt’s kids and husband would be greatly appreciated as this reality sits in!

My whole family went to lunch afterwards to spend some quality time together before we all went our separate ways. I got my normal shrimp tacos at Chuy’s.

Kyle and I also stopped for ice cream on the drive home 🙂 Hot fudge sundaes will always be my favorite!
We got home in the late evening and watched criminal minds before heading to bed.
Sunday
I slept AWFUL on Saturday night. I kept waking up after all of these weird dreams and finally got up around 5 when Kyle got up for work.

I had a key lime coconut milk yogurt before trying to go to bed again. These things are like dessert! Out of all the nondairy yogurts I’ve tried (a lot), this one is my favorite. The texture is normal and has a great taste!

Once I realized I wasn’t falling back asleep, I got up and got to cleaning. I got a huge urge to organize (I get this urge a lot) so I went at it. I munched on some beef sticks and a cheese stick throughout the day.

I went to the dollar store to get a TON of containers to organize stuff. I’m going to do a separate post on all of this. I had a blast, and I’m still not done! It’s so much nicer living in organization (as nerdy as that sounds). I can’t wait to get to our closet. I think I’ll do that at the same time when I trade out our summer and winter clothes.

I stopped by Wendy’s to pick up some food on my way home since Kyle would be home late from work. This side salad was much bigger and tastier than I thought it would be.

I also got chicken nuggets and fries, but I only ate the chicken nuggets because I was so full after the salad! This is something I would never have done even a year ago. Fries are my WEAKNESS. It also helped that they looked like they were yesterday’s batch 😂 After eating, I jumped right back into cleaning and organizing. I’m so excited to share that post!

Once Kyle got home from work, we headed to Ale Emporium for a last minute date night! We like going to pubs and getting a hodge podge of foods to share. It was all so good!

It was so nice to get out of the house and be just the two of us for a little bit! 🙂
Questions for you! Please answer below so we can talk 🙂
1. What did you do to celebrate Labor Day?
2. What’s the best book you read this year? I’m looking for my next one!
3. Do you do daily devotions?
We do a devotional as a family on Mon, Wed, and Fri nights. We were doing them every day but I didn’t feel like the kids got as much out of them or enough time to think about it and put whatever the message was into practice. So, I decided to go for quality over quantity. For a personal devotion, I love the books by Shelia Walsh, I think the one I liked the most was called 5 Minutes with Jesus and there’s one called Quiet Time for My Soul. If you need a good faith driven book suggestion, my favorite of all time is The Barbarian Way by Erwin Raphael McManus and I also loved Fearless by Sadie Robertson. We go to the library every Saturday and get books, so I’ve been through a lot. Right now I’m reading Haunting the Deep by Adriana Mather, there was one before it called How to Hang a Witch, and and I am reading the illustrated version of Harry Potter book 1 to my youngest. My oldest is reading The Hunger Games in English class. I love books by Emily Giffin, Mary Kay Andrews, Frances Chan, John Green, etc. Labor Day I was off work so I binge watched the new Charmed on Netflix. Have a great week!
Hi Brittany! So many good suggestions in your comment! Thank you!! I can’t wait to try them. I really love that you do devotions as a family- I think quality is much more important than quantity. I too have a hard time processing too much at once so I understand your kiddos!
