Weekly eats, work outs, and lake time!

Don’t let the behavior of others destroy your inner peace.

Hey everybody! I hope you all had an awesome weekend filled with relaxation and good times. 🙂 I sure did! I am so excited to get back into my recap posts. My day to day life is not all that exciting, but I’ll try to keep it interesting. 🙂

Tuesday

Kyle, Chance, and I woke up at 5AM to get a 3 mile run/walk in before I headed to work. Kyle and I listened to the Rise Together podcast with Rachel and Dave Hollis on our drive back from Chattanooga, and it inspired both of us so much! The episode is located HERE and is all about working out together as a couple and how you can push each other. Kyle and I decided right then to get back to working out together in the mornings before work. It’s so much easier and more fun doing it together, and I love being able to support each other. It’s also so much easier to get out of bed in the morning when Kyle isn’t still snuggled up in it! 🙂

After our run, we stretched, showered and I got ready for work. Then it was time for my breakfast smoothie. I’ve also started adding 2 cups of spinach to my smoothies for a veggie boost. I don’t taste it, and I’ve noticed that it keeps me more full and energized.

Then I headed to work! My picture from lunch won’t load, but I had a spinach wrap with turkey and tomatoes with a big salad with tomatoes and cucumbers and Salt and Vinegar Kettle Chips.

Dinner was homemade pepperoni pizzas and salad with grape tomatoes. We ended the evening watching Criminal Minds reruns and then headed to bed. Kyle and I have been listening to the Harry Potter series on audible from our Alexa at night as we fall asleep- we’re old and we love it. We’re on Prisoner of Azkaban now! I find that I sleep much better to that then the light from the TV.

Wednesday

Kyle and I woke up bright and early again, but we did Insanity this time! We both have different versions of Insanity so we’re working through mine right now. I bought the MAX30 a couple of years ago and never got the motivation to try it and stick with it. Kyle and I are using these DVDs to integrate strength training into our running training. Shaun T kicks my butt for sure, but it is an awesome workout!

Breakfast smoothie with added spinach then I headed to work!

I am 100% addicted to Crime Junkies. I love every episode and the hosts are the best! Buttttt, I have found that starting my day off with a podcast all about murder does not set me up the best mentally. My mind is very sensitive and definitely susceptible to negative thoughts and having them in the morning dampens my whole day. I’ve found that if I listen to my christian music, Girls Night podcast, or The Happy Hour podcast in the morning, my mind is in a much better place and my attitude is much better. I can listen to Crime Junkies in the afternoon and be much better off. I started trying that this past week, and I’ve already seen a world of difference. Don’t get me wrong, I still LOVE my true crime podcast. I just have found that there is a time and a place for it.

Lunch was chicken, green beans, and mashed potatoes. Before if I ate this, I would be miserable afterwards. I am assuming that because we worked out in the morning and I ate double the green beans and less of the fried stuff on the chicken and gravy, I did much better this day! Lessons learned.

After work, Kyle and I worked on some things around the house before having dinner. And I literally can’t remember at all what we had for dinner. I’m sure it was good! haha Kyle and I headed to bed after a while and listened to Harry Potter before falling asleep!

Thursday

We were both feeling really tight and sore when we woke up on Thursday. I decided to listen to our bodies and take a break. I did a 30 minute yoga routine before showering and getting ready for work. I felt much better afterwards!

Then I had my breakfast smoothie before heading to work.

One of our former patients likes to bring us in lunch sometimes, and she owns a Chinese restaurant. How sweet and delicious, right?!

My day at work was extremely draining both physically and emotionally. We’ve been losing a lot of patients lately, including some very young ones, and it never gets easier. I just wanted to go home and lay down because I was BEAT.

I told Kyle the summary of all of that so he brought home wings. Not having to fix dinner was a big relief. 🙂 We watched more Criminal Minds, then listened to Harry Potter, and then promptly fell asleep!

Friday

We woke up early again to squeeze in a run before work! We did a little over 2 miles because I had to be at work earlier than usual.

After I got cleaned up and ready for work, I had my smoothie! Then headed in for our meeting and then headed to radiation to work today. I am really enjoying working in both areas and expanding my knowledge!

I brought a turkey sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, and mustard, cucumbers, pretzels, and pickles for lunch. If I bring my lunch, I always bring the parts to my sandwich in separate baggies so it doesn’t get soggy. I can’t do soggy.

After work, I rushed home to get packed and head to the lake!

Owners who look like their dogs 😀

We picked up Chick Fil A for dinner as we drove to North Webster. This is our favorite fast food restaurant and go to road trip meal. Their side salads are big, fresh, and taste great!

Our friend, Klepp, has a lake house in North Webster and invited us to come stay for the weekend for one last summer celebration! We got there pretty late Friday night so we sat around the fire for a while just talking and laughing.

My favorite kind of night.

Then we went out on the boat for a midnight ride. We stopped the boat to watch the stars for a little while but when Klepp tried to restart the boat, it turned out the battery had died. hahaha Klepp called his mom and she was going to figure out a way to get to us but then a family of good Samaritans found us and towed us back to shore! It was so funny. Who gets stuck in a little lake? Us.

After we finally got back, Kyle and I headed to bed.

Saturday

Kyle and I are always the first ones up when we stay somewhere with friends (probably because we’re the first to go to bed). We stayed in our room to be quiet because Klepp’s sister got in super late from California, and we didn’t want to wake her.

It’s really hard to keep this energizer bunny quiet. Finally Klepp came and rescued us and everybody else woke up!

Klepp’s mom fixed French toast, bacon, and sausage for breakfast, and it was amazing! Then we headed outside to enjoy the view.

Klepp has giant Jenga, and Kyle and I decided that it is a must add to our game collection!! We played all morning. I was bundled up in sweats, a sweatshirt of Klepp’s mom because I wasn’t expecting it to be so cool, and socks. Best weather ever!

I think we definitely have a lake dog on our hands. I love the photo on the left because it looks like Chance is listening to the conversation.

We were so surprised that Chance didn’t dive into the water! He loves to swim, but we think he was scared of diving off of the boat. He came super close a couple of times, but he seemed happy enough to be a boat dog.

It was such a beautiful day, I could have spent all day just sitting out on the water. I got a few sips of this down before I switched to water so I didn’t get a headache. I like to think I can hang but nowadays, one drink gives me a headache and it’s just not worth it. Plus, Trulys taste so much better to me!

Klepp has a sweet pup named Anna, and her and Chance are best friends. They played ALL DAY AND NIGHT. They entertained themselves while we had burgers, hotdogs, macaroni and cheese, and veggies. We were starving after being in the sun all day.

I changed into dry, warm, comfy clothes for the drive home. We packed up and headed home around 9pm so we could have Sunday to get back to normal before the week began! It was about a 2 hour drive, and Chance slept the whole way home.

When we got home, we crashed!

Sunday

Chance was SO TIRED when we woke up on Sunday. After a weekend with Anna, he is always exhausted and sad for a few days. Just look at that face.

Kyle made Kodiak Chocolate Chip Waffles and strawberries for breakfast which was delicious. We spent the rest of the day hanging up decorations around the house, going on a walk, and getting ready for the week.

I hope you all have an awesome week and remember how special you each are!
