Long runs, lots of eats, and new buys!

Happy Monday everybody! I hope you had an awesome weekend and are ready to start your week strong 🙂 In this recap, I’ve included some affiliate links to some of my new, favorite products I think you’ll like! Monday started with my breakfast smoothie! Then off to work.

Lunch was a salad with lemon vinaigrette dressing and chicken with pineapple, tomatoes, and peppers. It was super yummy! I’m going to try it at home.

I am working in more veggies into my diet. I used to eat a ton and felt so much better when I did. Not sure why I stopped, but I’m excited to start again! I’m also excited to hit up the farmers markets when they open up again this summer!

After work, Chance and I headed out to walk a few miles. The sunshine felt amazing, like always.

Then I made chicken caesar salads for dinner.

On Tuesday, I didn’t have to go into work until 9 which was lucky because I woke up with an awful migraine. I took my meds and slept late. When I woke up, I felt better but did not feel like eating. The only thing that sounded good was a coconut milk caramel macchiato from Starbucks haha so I picked that up on the way to work for a little boost. I do not advise this as an everyday breakfast, this was just a weird morning for me.

By the time lunchtime rolled around, I was ready to eat. Salad and pizza for the win!

When I got home, we all went for a little walk.

Then we had calzones and salad for dinner. Kyle really wanted them, and for some reason they didn’t sound bad even after having pizza for lunch so I was fine with it 😂

On Wednesday, I woke up feeling much better and had my smoothie for breakfast. It definitely fueled me better than my macchiato from the day before.

Lunch was grilled chicken, salad, and wild rice.

After work, Chance and I headed out to walk a few miles.

Our new headphones arrived today too!! Kyle and I were both in the market for new wireless headphones, and I had heard great things about Aftershokz from the Ali on the Run podcast. My favorite thing about them is that I can hear what I’m listening to while still being aware of what’s going on around me. That sold Kyle as well. He didn’t like the fact that my old headphones blocked out all the outside noise when I was out running. It sounds great, but it’s actually pretty dangerous. These also don’t hurt your ears! My ears used to be so sore after long runs from my headphones rubbing and pulsing in my ears, but not anymore! Here’s the link if you want to try them out 🙂

I was nursing a headache most of the evening so Kyle picked up Jimmy John’s for dinner. Once I finally woke up and felt better, I ate the unwich he had gotten for me. Then promptly went back to sleep.

On Thursday, I had chocolate and peanut butter Cheerios and grapes for breakfast because I forgot to freeze my bananas again! Those little pills are my vitamin B pills that are supposed to help prevent migraines.

Lunch was grilled chicken and green beans.

After work, I stopped by Earth Fare to pick up a few things.

I had this as a snack on the way home! It has 9g of protein which I was pumped about. I have a weird obsession with beef jerky.

Kyle had to work late and then go on some errands so I used that time for some self care. After I took Chance on a little walk, I ran a bath.

That bath bomb smelled amazing, and I was finally able to really dive into this book. It’s so good so far!! If you liked Gone Girl, you have to read this book.

While I soaked, I used this facemask. It really draws the impurities out of my pores and does an amazing job at cleaning up my face.

Then I continued to read while I smacked on an orange and some cashews.

Dinner was a Daiya pepperoni pizza and sunflower crunch salad (my FAVORITE).

I felt super relaxed when I finally went to bed. I’m going to make this a weekly thing.

I woke up feeling super refreshed on Friday! Breakfast smoothie for the win.

I brought my own lunch today. I picked up a kale caesar salad and a bag of Hippeas from Earth Fare. The salad was actually pretty good! It probably would have been better yesterday when they had actually made it but still!

After work, I headed to Jaycey’s for a mini girls night! So Jaycey and Lexie are both in my wedding, and Jaycey and I are both in Lexie’s wedding in September. We all wanted to try on our bridesmaid dresses for each other’s weddings with each other to make sure everything worked so that’s what we did before heading to dinner. (Kind of confusing, I know). After that, we headed to a Mexican restaurant for dinner!

I had a chicken quesadilla for dinner. Of course I had a ton of chips and salsa beforehand.

Jaycey has this picture hanging up in her house, and I LOVE it. I think we all need this reminder sometimes. I get so caught up in beating myself up for not having it all together all the time that I forget that I’m always God’s masterpiece.

Once I got home, Kyle and I watched some Criminal Minds and headed to bed.

On Saturday, I woke up and had my massage! This sweet woman worked wonders on my head. As soon as she felt my head and shoulders, she said I had a ton of tension and could see why I had been having so many headaches. She did so many things and taught me so many exercises I could do at home to help. I will definitely be going every month. I can already tell a difference in how I feel! If you’re in the area, I definitely recommend Noblesville Massage Therapy.

When I got home, I had some chocolate and peanut butter cheerios.

Then Chance and I ran 10 miles. It was 70 degrees!! We were obviously not used to the heat! At about mile 8, I knew we were not going to make it so Kyle met us and brought us water.

Also my first run with my new headphones, and they were perfect!!

So happy to have a water break! (He also took a few dips in a pond throughout our run).

I ordered new brooks in a half a size up than my last pair. My toes were starting to be really sore after my long runs, and I think it’s because they were too small for me to be running in. I’ve been reading that running shoes should be 1/2 to 1 size larger than your normal size so we’ll see if this works! If not, I’ll need to go get fitted somewhere.

After we cleaned up, we picked up snacks and headed to Kyle’s place to start packing up his stuff to move him before the wedding! His lease is up soon and we’re going to move some of his stuff early to make it easier when it gets closer to the wedding. *I also had a taco when I got home from my run but ate it so quickly that I didn’t snap a photo 🙂

Kyle’s parents then invited us over to grill out for the evening! It was a great night 🙂

Sunday was a day full of rest and junk food! Besides cleaning up the apartment and going on little dog walks, I didn’t feel like doing anything. After our morning donuts, I laid back down because my head had started hurting during the night. Once I woke up, I felt much better and could finish cleaning.

Kyle and I both were feeling wings so we picked up B-Dubs for dinner! I’m telling you, today had no nutritional value whatsoever 😂

My Food Sensitivity test got here! This is supposed to tell me what foods trigger my migraines (along with a ton of other things), and I am so excited to see the results. Good thing I got all my junk food in this week before it tells me I need to stop eating it 😂 I know that dairy definitely triggers my migraines, but I am very interested to see what else. If you are interested in this test or any others that are offered, just go to Everlywell.com! They have so many options!

I hope you all have an awesome week!

I do believe that buying your shoes 1/2 to 1 shoe size bigger works. I have been doing that for over 2 years now and my toes do not bother me at all. I love Reebok and Nike for my running shoes, I toggle between both. I love clay mask, right now I am using a Loreal and Shiseido, I love then both. I do the whole shebum for self care; from hair to feet; every week 🙂 🙂 usually once a week though, with my hair every 8-10 days.

That sounds awesome! My hair is the part I always neglect so I need to do better about including that in my self care routine!!

Just an FYI … you might want to be very careful about buying running shoes from the seller you did on Amazon. It looks like they are being publicized as one model of shoe from Brooks and then they are actually selling a different one. Were you / are you sure that the ones that you ordered are the ones that you had in the past? I would totally recommend going to a running store and getting fitted for the appropriate running shoe if you are going to continue to run such long distances. p.s. I love that you found an awesome massage therapist … I need to find one where I’m at in Minnesota because my one back in Illinois was amazing! 🙂

Omg! I’ll have to look into that! Thank you! I took the link out in the meantime until I figure it out. I know that the first pair I bought were the right shoe, but I didn’t look as close to the second pair when I got them!
And yes you do!! They’re a life changer for sure! 🙂

Miriam – thank you for removing the link and PLEASE let me know if you get the sneakers you planned on buying! 😉
